GAZeL General Board Meeting –Thursday, May 20^th, 2010, Noon

Bobbie, Steve, Alex, Richard, Michele, Sher, Duke, Ted, Maggie and Bob were on the conference call.

Alex called the meeting to order at 12:10 PM.

1)    Website Update: Steve reported that Brad’s server will be hosting the newly updated GAZeL website.

Steve will be requesting that the GAZeL website be considered for a second round of improvements with a new U of A graduate team in 2011.

2)    Networking Events- Events Update: Bobbie said there are only 6 people registered for the upcoming networking event on March 26^th at SkySong. She requested that all board members let her know as soon as possible if they will be attending.

Duke updated the board that the state’s new laws on eRate will not affect this fall’s applications as the changes will be a pilot program only beginning next year. The state or STC are not providing training at this time. So GAZeL’s interest in sponsoring a workshop is viable for late September. It will be in a 2-part format. Part 1 is an introductory session and part 2 will review forms and answer questions. Duke stressed that these sessions would be to educate the public, not a full service application processing session. A full service session would cost $950 -$975 per person. Duke will find out if there will be a charge for the event.

3)    New/Old Business – ATC Meeting Update and GAZel’s Future: Alex will forward ATC’s proposed partnership to the board. He requested that everyone provide him with questions and comments as soon as possible so he could respond.

Our next back-to-back Executive and General Board Meetings are scheduled for June 24^th, 2010 with the Executive meeting starting at 11:30 AM.

Steve requested that the Executive Board meeting’s agenda include only those activities the Executive Board needed to decide on and allow other topics to wait until the General Board meeting.
