GAZeL Executive Board Meeting - Noon, Thursday, January 14, 2010

Minutes

1)      CEO Breakfast: Event Review

A summary of the CEO Breakfast has been posted on the GAZeL website for all to view. Bobbie noted that Arizona State Senator John Huppenthal chose our event to announce his candidacy for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Alex thanked everyone who could attend for supporting this highly successful event.

2) Networking Events

Our next networking event is set for February 18, 2010 at SkySong. Amy Weibel will be the speaker and the topic is assessments. Bobbie will be working on future events including a possible panel discussion with the Board of Regents. The GAZeL board is requested to look for new topics and speakers for networking events in April and May. Alex is requesting we keep in mind our eventual virtual conference and possible speakers for this event as well.

3)      E-Rate Meeting as a Networking Event

The board discussed how to best present a workshop or series of workshops for schools to learn how to apply for E-Rate funding. Duke will help us determine possible topics and contact consultants who can lead the discussions. The timeline for this event will be in late September or early October to coincide with funding application timelines.

4)      Website Design

GAZeL’s website design project has been accepted as a graduate student project from the U of A. Steve will coordinate the meeting with the students assigned to our project to determine the scope. Since this project must be completed within 8 weeks, we will need to assess what can be completed within that timeline. The website committee will report back to the board their findings prior to a final decision on the priorities of the website update.

Our next meeting is scheduled for January 28, 2010. This will be an audio conference only.
