Summary of the Classroom of the Future GAZeL Networking Event
ABLE PRESENTATION OF GREAT INTEREST
On October 29th, 2009 Duke Merhavy and Craig Ward gave a very interesting presentation. Able is a company that installs computers and the necessary equipment to make them run. This is done primarily in k-12 school districts. There is always one problem that the schools have. They rarely have the money. Dr. Merhavy and Mr. Ward (both members of the GAZeL board of directors) discussed ways of applying for money through E-rate. This is money from the federal government to pay for cables, installation and the necessary items that allow the computers to be used.
Able does not charge school districts for speaking to the teachers and administrators about how to go about applying for these grants. In fact Craig Ward and others in the firm spend almost their entire work hours traveling to districts that need this information.
Audience participation was at an all time high with questions to the presenters. This shows the need for this information. This indeed was a good topic and excellent presenters.
