Minutes of the Board Meeting at 12:00 noon on 07-23-09
GAZeL BOARD MEETING
7-23-09
Alex Devereux called the meeting to order at 12:09 PM. Those present were Alex, Michael, Maggie, Bobbie, Michele, Brad, Richard, Steve and Alisa.
The first item on the agenda concerned the progress of the website. Alisa was complimented on her leadership in showing Alex, Michele and Steve how the CRM and other modules work. Steve had made some suggestion about registration of people who attend the live meetings and those who will be on line. Alisa is working on this.
Bobbie brought up payment to the host site we are using. At this time we are paying $79.95 each month. If we pay for six or twelve month at a time we get a slight discount. It was decided that we will pay one month at a time. We do not have a contract and if anything changes during the time the ASU students are working on the website or if we decide to change hosts we will not be out money.
Alisa offered to train someone to create document templates. She also suggested that she could create a book that would guide us to use the various functions on the website.
Steve is still waiting to hear from the U of A students about when and how they will begin to work on our site. They will be back in school in a few weeks.
Bobbie gave an update on the committee to call new presenters. Michele has contacted Amy Weible about presenting after the first of the year. . Steve suggested the Assistant Director of the STEM center and at the same time Kathleen Barton, director working with Intel, who is actively involved with the STEM center. He also suggested Lon Satco who is a professional speaker on the topic of Social Networking.
Bobbie suggested someone from ASU Polytech and from the Gilbert/Chandler Community College because they work together on an engineering program that is a hands on program and differs from the engineering program at ASU, Tempe.
Bob Rosenberg will try to get a few legislators to speak on the topic of eLearning and if there will be money for this in the near future.
Brad Boute suggested Dr. Leslie Moller, published author in the area of educational technology and Human performance management.
We then spoke about the CEO breakfast. It was agreed we need to have one. Ted Kraver will organize the work done at last’s years breakfast. Bobbie will get a price for having it at the Mesa Conference Center and from the Arizona Club. Alex said we really must get a “big ticket attractor”. We will have this the second week in January 2010.
Brad agreed to set up an account on Twitter. We also agreed to send emails to board members and find a way to have a communication system with all interested people.
We will send a flyer out reminding people of the Flypaper presentation on Aug. 20, 2009. The flyers will go out on Tuesday, Aug. 4th and again on August 13, 2009.
Committees are needed for the CEO breakfast and for the nominating committee. Bobbie will send out an email to all board members asking who will participate on these committees.
The next Exe. Committee meeting will be on August 13, 2009 and the Board meeting on August 27, 2009. both meetings will be at noon. These are audio only. 1-888-678-1020 1237256108#
