GAZeL Board Meeting - Noon, Thursday, February 26th

Maggie called the meeting to order at 12:04and thanked Cox for our uplink.
Agenda Items:
Board Member Updates – Bobbie had suggested Ann Boland as a board director but Ann wants to wait a year and will help.
Michele was not available to talk about the membership committee.
Networking/Conference Events: Virtual Conference and Networking Events Updates – Bobbie/Brad/Alisa
Bobbie gave a report on the SkySong networking meeting.
The May meeting will also be at SkySong. Ann and Brad will be presenting on mobile learning May 6th or 7th. Maggie mentioned that there is an upcoming mobile learning event in Orlando, 26-28 October. The registration fee is not publicized but it will be about $800.
Brad talked about our GAZeL website. First short term we want to make it more attractive. Second more long-term we want the site to be more technically capable. Steve has a connection with some U of A students who are willing to help rebuild the site so we can teleconference. These students are believed to have necessary programming skills to build the site. It was discussed what the theme should be for the initial virtual conference and what software should be used. Brad will talk to Steve and Cindy and they will keep Alisa updated.
Alex mentioned that we might want to consider using the ASU Nursing School building in downtown Phoenix for a conference. He has a POC to help with the details.
Bobbie gave the Treasurer’s report. She has paid off Lauren Wingate leaving $4100.
Alisa had some questions about possible changes to the website. She suggested 4 categories of interests but we ended up with five categories. Brad will let us know when Steve gets back and when we can have a meeting concerning the website and virtual conferencing.
The next Board meeting will be March 26th.
Alex thanked all the people who have been working to help with GAZeL activities, including Alisa’s work on the web site.
