GAZeL Board of Directors Meeting: 10 July 2008

At 12:06 Alex welcomed everyone and thanked our sponsors.
Bobbie mentioned that we still had some Board Member who haven’t
paid dues. A discussion ensued.
Networking Events – Bobbie suggested 8/20 at Tracorp (http://www.tracorp.com)and after discussion that was accepted. Also, it was discussed about using PayPal and charging $15 for lunch. Steve suggested we allow people to audio connect to the meeting.
Our Oct meeting is going along.
We then had a discussion of having another Summit or a broader educational networking event. As a possible theme, Open Source Resources (OER) was discussed, including talking to the folks (e.g., Nancy Cook, Director of Operations, ncook [at] montereyinstitute [dot] org">ncook [at] montereyinstitute [dot] org) at Hippocampus (http://www.hippocampus.org) and Center for Open and Sustainable Learning (http://cosl.usu.edu/).

Board Member Additions - Alex/ Bobbie
Adding Bill Perry to the Board was discussed.
July 24th, Thursday will be our next face to face Board Meeting and it will be a planning/strategy meeting.
Steve mentioned that next week ATIC will hosting debates for Arizona Corporation Commission.

Collins College Named School of the Year by the Arizona Private School Association

www.collinscollege.edu/ - The Arizona Private School Association (APSA) awarded Collins College four Best Practice Awards, including School of the Year at its annual conference. Collins College also received awards for Best Teacher, Best Student Financial Services and Best Admissions Practices. This was the second time Collins was awarded School of the Year. The last time was in
2005. Collins swept this year's ceremony receiving the most awards presented.
