Golf Tournament Update – Lauryn

Lauryn reported on the plans for the May 1st golf tournament, the details are on www.gazel.us Still looking for sponsors and is mailing letters to everyone she knows but wants any new addresses. She is having an OLPC photographed tomorrow which we can all use. Details are on www.gazel.us

The GAZeL-a-Ganza Gala and Golf fundraiser brings together the right ingredients to make it a successful event:

The most prominent business leaders, legislators, company owners, guests, and friends who support literacy in the Greater Arizona area will have a dinner on May 1st, at the award winning Radisson Fort McDowell Resort

A golf tournament on May 2nd, at the We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, voted one of America’s Top 10 New Public courses by Golf Digest, January, 2008. Activities include: magnificent silent auction, trips, trophies, and other such things. The sponsors, will have inclusion in all outside marketing materials, public relations exposure as well as on-site signage, logo representation, program ads, and much more.

And of course, we will have the unveiling of the OLPC

Conference Update –Steve

We are moving ahead and are in better shape with $17,750 in confirmed Sponsorships. We have gotten lots of email coverage and a little press coverage. Bobbie: paid Attendees 58 and most of our board members still have not registered. Sheri: Some question about what email lists are covering whom. It looks like CCS will donate to us the use of their projector and Sheri will be able to provide another one. More discussion ensued. Steve is getting a GAZeL banner. We will have free Internet wireless. Programs and presentations are shaping up very well. Only concern seems to be attendance.

AZ Club Membership

GAZeL Membership is up for renewal. Bobbie & Steve did not feel we needed to pay $150/year for a place to meet. We had a long discussion whether we should keep the membership. It was finally voted to keep the membership for another year.
