Changing eLearning from Ordinary to Extraordinary!
When I talk to others regarding eLearning they are:
-
Either afraid of it or puzzled by it,
-
They seem to either embrace it or rationalize rejecting it,
-
Most try to compare it to the past with no picture of the future.
The more I think about what elearning has become and its acceptance in the marketplace and in institutions, it takes on the presence of this quiet "Knowledge Worker's Guardian Angel".
It is like the pit crew of a NASCAR racing team. When drivers are running low on fuel or burn too much rubber off of their tires or have a something mechanically go wrong in the race, to stay competitive, they pull off the track and into the pit. They get a quick fix and get back into the race as fast as possible. This is similar to what professionals and students, who are looking to move into a better career or raise the ceiling of their current career choices, do with elearning that has supported its growth. They use it to help them get "back into the fast lane" of their careers.
The demand for increased knowledge, performance, versatility and adaptable has pounced upon us with a vengence in the 21st century. Countries like China and India will eclipse us with population, resources, and highly educated and skilled knowledge worker power. We must adapt to survive or die. We must innovate or perish.

The true unsung heroes of NASCAR are the pit crew members.
The true unsung heroes of enabling companies, institutions, and workers has been the implementation of and/or access to elearning systems for knowledge workers.
The institutions and companies that have benefitted the most from elearning such as: Grand Canyon University, University of Phoenix, online corporate universities, Blackboard, Pearson Digital, Skillsoft, etc., sing its praises.
Nonetheless, we still struggle to hear others act and sing its praises.
eSATS struggles to create new inroads and acceptance at the legislative level for K-12 educational reform and educational renewal.
Slowly the Sleeping Giant is beginning to awaken and stir with increased acceptance.
As ordinary as our vision of elearning may be perceived, our mission is to make it's acceptance EXTRAORDINARY.
Our mission is to make an IMPOSSIBLE DREAM a REALITY!
Together let's support and cultivate the acceptance and use of elearning.
Let's make elearning acceptance and educational reform an EXTRAORDINARY Reality in Arizona!
Please share your EXTRAORDINARY VISION OF ELEARNING IN ARIZONA AND THE WORLD with us so that we can work together, as a team, to make our visions of eLearning and its potential a REALITY!
